Resumo: The research “Memory, Privacy and the Legitimate Interest of the Collectivity: Sesc Memórias and the General Personal Data Protection Law'' intends to reveal the meaning of Sesc Memórias’ performance as a protector, disseminator and producer of significances from the historical institutional collection of Sesc São Paulo, and its adequacy to the LGPD, General Personal Data Protection Law. Secondarily, it intends to highlight the educational aspects of the actions developed by Sesc São Paulo in line with LGPD’s dispositions, identifying concrete examples of activities contemplating the collection and use of personal data and preserving their conceptual relevance in compliance with privacy care and information protection. of its participants. The research starts from the question: how to justify the performance of Sesc Memórias in the maintenance of historical institutional collection and in the preservation and construction of knowledge in accordance with a legislation that establishes unprecedented rules for the collection, treatment and storage of personal data? As for the methodology, this is a bibliographical and documentary research that analyzes the institutional collection under the custody of Sesc Memórias, as the center responsible for the program to consolidate and rescue the trajectory of Sesc São Paulo, extracting categories of analysis from the objectives and theories and using as source a bibliography with theoretical texts concerning the study of the basic concepts of memory and privacy, as well as on the organization of memory centers and the regulation of the protection of personal data
