Resumo:	The main objective of this research was to study the Growth and Population dynamic in Rio Grande do Sul from 1949 to 2000. It was done departing from the neoclassical growth model hypothesis of income convergence. A panel data model was tested using the fixed effect specification. The migration effect over the evolution process of the AECs (statistically comparable areas) trying to find out the existence of spatial relationship was also tested. The results show the presence of conditional convergence, which is accelerated by the population increase and directly related to the neighbourhood income
