Resumo: The object of this work is a literary section showed by a newspaper called O Imparcial, from the Brazilian state of Bahia (1918-1947). The thesis trails the disciplinar field of literary historiography, having as its basis a literary system which isn’t taken into consideration by an official historiography. Theoretical supports were searched on the “Empirical Science of Literature”, headed by Siegfried Schmidt and represented in Brazil by Heidrun Krieger Olinto. The German theorist’s thought concerning to an active participation on the academical-scientific space is articulated with intelectual postures of political interference on society, as they are sustained by the Palestin criticist Edward Said. A daily trajectory of cataloging these journalistic matters detect people on highlight at their time, notice debates and important acts that literature develops with groups from different ideological conceptions, putting on relief Arco & Flexa and Ala (Movimento das Letras e das Artes). From lendary writers to some persons completelly unknown today, the present research aims at spreading names as Castro Alves, Carlos Chiacchio, Rui Barbosa, Artur de Sales, Xavier Marques, Eugênio Gomes, Maria Dolores, João Paraguaçu and Wilson Lins. The corpus imposes some nomenclatures, as “Biocriticism” and “Dinamical Tradicionism”, which can be included in the list of local theories, as they are thought by Walter Mignolo. From their points of view, it’s possible to conform the theoretical item “system support”, to which the best examples are Carlos Chiacchio and Afrânio Coutinho. The nomenclature I propose — “newspaper literature” — gets sense considering its appearance to a literary system. The journal studied in this work operates the transition from the world of ancien bachelors and tribunes to the Brazilian political organization called “Estado Novo [New State]” and to the Post-War. Demonstrating similar political battles and intellectual combats, it gives enough evidences that literature is an engaged institution, as well as it demonstrates interests on the present time.
