The hotel industry, in general, it s not usually associated to pollution images and environmental degradation, nevertheless, the impacts caused by the way the companies deal with subjects as water, energy, waste, green areas, chemical products, sonorous and air pollution may affect nature, mainly because of the growth in the hotel industry in the last years. Due to the topic of environmental management is considered new if applied to hotels, this learning has exploratory focus, because aim to lift questions and hypothesis to future studies. The chosen search strategy was the multiple study cases method, with three cases and their concerning experiences in adoption of environmentally responsible behavior: Associação dos Roteiros de Charme and its Código de Ética e de Conduta Ambiental; Accor Hotels and its Carta Ambiental; and Grande Hotel São Pedro (Hotel-Escola Senac) and its ISO 14001 certification. In order to collect information, it was carried out interviews, documental analysis and sent questionnaires. The analysis of the information collected permitted the identification of a significant involvement with environmental issues from the hotels of this study; however, there are some possible improvements to be implemented for these enterprises, in order to reduce their impacts in the nature |
