Resumo: This work aims to analyze the sustainable management practices in the hospitality industry. The methodology was applied to a multiple case study approach with qualitative and quantitative, which was performed in a previous theoretical study, including research bibliometric, supplemented with interviews of open and closed questions in practical cases the companies evaluated. The study included nine blocks of indicators of performance where each indicator individually had the intention to investigate the existence of sustainable practices in the universe of the means of lodging researched in Fernando de Noronha. In this segment of tourism, one of the tools used for obtaining environmental certifications and the use of the ISO 14000 series and ABNT standards through the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS), deployment of environmental certification as the green stamps or by the pursuit of hotel classification. The result of the research showed that the socio-environmental certifications bring concrete benefits of sustainability when applied to hotel companies, therefore, a study of relevance to the scientific area. The survey results showed that the 30 companies analyzed, some sustainable practices are already in use, however, are not consciously linked to an EMS. Failure, on the part of managers, clarification of how to make best use of these tools and their propagation, taking into account the costs associated with deploying each. However, it should be noted that to achieve this goal, more than "make sure" it is necessary that these companies embrace a new awareness of their responsibilities, believing and investing in sustainable strategies, in which the methods adopted are maintained through control, maintenance and repair when necessary to practice a more responsible tourism
