Resumo: |
The bruxism in children is a challenge in the odontological clinic for children, since this disorder causes important structural damages in the masticatory structures compromising the growth and development of the face. Currently, the use of the bite plate is the treatment of choice to protect the wear of the dental structure, but it does not solve the cause. The use of the low power laser is indicated to promote analgesic effect. Laserpuncture plays an important role because acupoints when properly stimulated increase neurotransmitters such as oxytocin and noradrenaline in the bloodstream. Thus, this research aims to establish a clinical model to evaluate the bite force and amount of salivary cortisol present in children with bruxism, pre and post application of low power laser in acupoints. In a randomized controlled clinical study, 76 children aged 6 to 12 years were divided into 4 groups: G1- Laser in acupoints (n = 19), G2-Occlusal plate with expander (n = 19), G3-Placebo = 19) and G4-Follow-up without bruxism. The diagnosis of bruxism was made through the report of those responsible through a questionnaire and clinically examining the presence of facets of wear. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 program (IBM). The results obtained with respect to the data before the treatments used showed a lack of significant correlation between the presence of bruxism and headache (p = 0.3485, chi-square), bruxism and facets (p = 0.5323, chi-square). The bite force is equivalent on both sides of the patient for all groups (p> 0.05, paired t-test for all groups) and The mean bite force is invariant as a function of the studied group, showing that all groups are balanced with respect to bite force before treatment (p> 0.05, ANOVA). In relation to the cortisol level, equivalence was observed in all (p> 0.05, t-test) .Application of laser therapy showed a decrease in bite force in the group G1-laser acupoints and increase of cortisol in all groups. or to have action in patients with BS and that the dosage of the biomarker was influenced by the acute stressor. |
