Resumo: This masters thesis addressed the quality of life, perceived social support and the use of medications in elderly women attending a University Program for Senior Citizens in São Caetano do Sul city - São Paulo - Brazil. The study aimed to identify and describe the possible relationships between the variables studied. It used the exploratory descriptive method of cross-sectional and quantitative character. Data were collected between August and October 2014, through a convenience sample composed of 150 women with a mean age of 66.13 years. Self-report instruments were used: WHOQOL-OLD and WHOQOL-BREF (Word Health Organization Quality of Life Instrument), proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO), applied by a single interviewer, and are used to identify the quality of global life and their domains; Perceived Social Support Scale (EPSS), which evaluated the perception of social support in their emotional and practical dimensions; a questionnaire on the use of commonly used drugs, and a questionnaire containing sociodemographic data, which helped in the characterization of the sample profile and statistical analysis. From the results, 59.3pc of the sample completed elementary school, 49.3pc are married, 79.3pc does not exercise remunerated activity, and 78.7pc does not exercise volunteer activities. Global showed good perception of Quality of Life (82.90pc) and the domain with the lowest average value Sensory operation (12.56pc), and higher average score on Autonomy domain (14.66pc). Feel safe to resort to practical social support network (53.08pc), and insecurity to use its network of emotional social support (28.88%). The prevalence of drug use was 3.6pc, all prescribed and the most widely used active ingredients belonged to treatment of hypertension and cardiovascular system. Significant correlations between the relevant variables of the study, from a statistical point of view were not observed. Although they live in a city with high Human Development Index, it is concluded that the increase in possible physical disabilities of older reveal difficulties of access to environmental resources, where the sample was inserted. We suggest the creation of research and interventions with elderly, including in continuing education programs, spaces for debate with the theme of finitude and aging, as well as new studies of qualitative nature, to deepen the knowledge about quality life, perceived social support and the use of medications in this population, as well as the inclusion of other sociodemographic groups of elderly, in longitudinal studies.
