Resumo: |
Disinformation has become one of the biggest challenges for contemporary society as more people join digital social platforms. The more social media start being used and considered the main source of information for millions of Brazilians, the more misinformation tends to impose itself as one of the biggest challenges nowadays. This research's main objective is to understand how disinformation fostered by social media has guided the re-signification of the press in Brazil and, as a consequence, impacted the business model of journalism from production to news distribution. The study also observes how such transformations have reflected in the precariousness of the specialized workforce in newsrooms. The methodological procedure adopted a bibliographic review in the field of the network society, focusing on fake news and post-fact, especially disseminated in social media which, consequently, feed the chain of disinformation; the impact of the phenomenon in the formation of public opinion, besides related researches carried out by leading institutions. To add advanced knowledge on the topic was also used in its methodology deep semi-structured interviews. As a result, it was possible to confirm that Brazilian journalists live a work routine that, in addition to the traditional production of news, implies combating misinformation in social media, contributing to the return of press organizations' profitability in the digital model, even though they stand by the precarious workforce and extinction of a specialized journalist in the newsrooms. The survey also confirms Brazil as part of a global movement to tighten up right-wing politics in the face of social agendas, common to left-wing parties, in which the discrediting of the press is part of the strategies for weakening the pillars of democratic bases. |
