Resumo: |
The aim of this study is to examine a possible change in the size of the clinical crown of the lower anterior teeth in 50 individuals with malocclusion, Angle Class II. The sample was divided into two groups: one group treated with 25 subjects (14 male and 11 female) with mean age at T1 (initial time of treatment) of 11 years, and T2 (time post-treatment) for 12 years and 7 months treated with the function regulator appliance Fränkel-2 for 18 months, and a control group of 25 subjects (12 male and 13 female) mean age at T1 for 10 years and 3 months and T2 in 12 years and 1 month. The plaster casts of 100 individuals were analyzed and compared between the beginning and end of treatment using a caliper, using as measure the distance from incisal to the concave portion of the gingival margin of the lower incisors and canines. Data were analyzed using the Student t test and paired t test. Among the six anterior teeth-less, all showed a significant increase in the treated group and only three teeth (33.42 and 43) increased significantly in the control group. In relation to the treatment group and control group at T2, a significant increase in the crown teeth 32, 33 and 43. There was a statistically significant increase in only two teeth (31 and 41) in both sexes. The results showed no statistical significance when compared to changing the size of the crown during the age. It is concluded that measures of clinical crowns of teeth differ between groups, being higher in the treated group. The increase in clinical crown of the teeth, is not related only by the presence of buccal inclination of the same, but may be considered as multifactorial. |
