This research has a qualitative nature and aims to understand the phenomena of violence and moral harassment experienced by the nursing professionals in hospitals and health services, and especially those located in Vitória-ES. It sought to analyze power relations involved in the occurrence of these phenomena, from the analytical categories that emerged from the speech of the nursing professionals interviewed. The data was interpreted using the discourse analysis in Foucault's perspective. The interviews showed that the research participants notice the violence that’s spreads in their workplace, in different ways, such as moral and organizational harassment, and also notice that it impacts the assistance provided. The research also analyzed the violence and the fear in the process of disciplining nursing workers’ bodies, their devaluation and the recognition, from the interdiction to their speech and, finally, the suffering and the uneasiness caused to the nursing professionals by the violence that is imposed to them and the mismatch between this situation and the preservation of the health of these workers and a work environment that should be healthy and balanced.
