Resumo: | Copaifera oleoresins (Leguminosae) are commonly used in folk medicine due to their antiinflammatory, wound healing, antimicrobial and antitumor activities, which have been confirmed by several studies in the literature. The present study aimed the phytochemical investigation of C. paupera oleoresin and the evaluation of its cytotoxic activity, as well of its major metabolites and its volatile fraction. The four tumor cell lines (ACP01, A549, HeLa and MCF-7) and two normal cell lines (GM07492-A and MCF-10A) were investigated using XTT and sulforhodamine B colorimetric assays. The phytochemical study allowed the isolation of diterpene caurenoic acid, as well as sesquiterpene junenol, which may be considered as major metabolites of this species. The biological assays showed a considerable cytotoxicity of the oleoresin, its volatile fraction and its major compounds against the investigated cell lines, specially the oleoresin and its volatile fraction against the ACP01 gastric cancer tumor line. They exhibited selectivity indexes greater than 2.0, and therefore, considered significant according to the literature. |
