Resumo: | Copaifera trees are popularly known as “copaíbas, copaibeiras ou pau d’óleo” and its great importance is related to its medicinal potentical, mostly associated to the oilresin extracted from the trunk. Among all Copaifera species, C. reticulata should be highlighted due to its commercial importance. Commonly found in north western Amazon region, it is estimated that 70% Copaifera reticulata of all marketed Copaifera oilresin is obtained from this specie. In this work, the isolation and identification of C. reticulata oilresin constituents are described, as well as the development of an analytical method through high performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry to allow the direct chemical characterization of C. reticulata oilresins. Through these techniques, it were isolated and identified: 1) ent-15,16-epoxi-8(17),13(16),14- labdatrien-19-oic acid (ent-polyalthic acid); 2) ent-8(17),13-labdadien-15,19- dioic acid 15 methyl ester (ent-agathic acid 15 methyl ester); 3) ent-18-hydroxilabda-8(17),13-dien-15-oic acid 15 methyl ester (ent-agatholic acid 15 methyl ester); 4) ent-18-hydroxi-labda-8(17),13-dien-15-oic acid (ent-agatholic acid). In addition to these constituents, and using the developed analytical method, it was also possible the direct identification of ent-copalic acid in the oilresin.
