Resumo: Youth protagonism can be conceptualized as an innovative, constructive and humanitarian action by young people in solving real problems at school, in the community and in social life itself. The student union is one of the possible spaces for youth action within schools and can help in acquiring responsibilities, generating intellectual and moral autonomy, solidarity, respect for differences, cooperation, acquisition of knowledge and development of skills, strengthening the voice of youth. In this context, the objective of this study is to identify the perception of former members of a student union of a state technical school in the capital of São Paulo regarding this space of action, as a possibility of development for Youth Protagonism. In a scenario of strong appreciation of youth protagonism, it is necessary to investigate how young people are understanding this process, analyzing the limits and possibilities of action of the student union and explaining the conceptions that guide this action. As a theoretical framework, studies by Aldimara Delabona Boutin (2016), Marcele Bald (2015), Fernanda Mendes (2011), Francisco Martins (2010), Aparecida da Graça Carlos (2006), among others, were used. Among the methodological procedures, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were applied to 16 research participants. Data analysis indicated, among other aspects, that students recognize the importance of the collegiate as a personal and professional improvement, developing new skills that help them in the trajectory they are taking today. Although they do not have a clear definition of what Juvenile Protagonism is, the respondents understand this concept as a place for young people to speak and note, in the guild, a great possibility for its development. Finally, it presents the proposal of an Interactive Compendium that can be shared among educational institutions with the intention of informing students about the collegiate, punctuating actions for an effective participation in the school space.
