Resumo: This research was conducted in order to identify practices of eco- innovations in the light of the methodology of communities of practice in an automotive industry in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. Through a methodological theoretical study focused a closer look at the eco- innovations themes and communities of practice, the interaction between these two dynamics and its practical results . Understanding how come the practices through interactions between those involved in the process, the exchange of learning through trading relationships based on the concepts of (WENGER, 1998). Eco-innovations bring a range of possibilities, is developing new products that do not harm the environment, modifying processes, reducing energy consumption or even organizational practices. These eco- innovation practices demonstrated in the studied company are aimed at reducing energy consumption in levels of sub processes.This research has been prepared and examined under a constructivist and interpretive look of reality where the elements are socially constructed through participation, negotiation and interaction of the actors resulting in practices. Within this methodology a qualitative survey was conducted through single case study. The setting for this study is an automotive industry in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. Data collection was primary form of semi- structured interviews and direct observation and secondary documents and reports submitted. The results of analysis identified the presence of communities of practice with a strong presence of the learning factor for the construction of eco- innovations in the studied company.
