Resumo: City is a space of circulation, with condition to live, because it is a place to be, to belong, due to the diversity and multiplicity of its resources. In this movement of coming and going through the city's corners, children and young people appropriate perceptions, being able to interact, participate and learn with their peers. The relationships that adolescents establish in the city everyday life are a possibility of creation and recreation of themselves and also the lived world. Thus, the purpose of this essay is to understand the adolescent´s discursive practices meanings about the city where they live, in the light of their perceptive universes. The originality of this research is based on these adolescents’ perceptions. The empirical research was qualitative and inspired by the works of Francesco Tonucci, Corsaro, Castro, Brougere and Merleau-Ponty. The participants were six adolescents between twelve and thirteen years old, students of a private school in Palhoça/SC. The issue is: what are the adolescents`s discursive practices meanings about the city where they live, in the light of their perceptual universes? A semi-structured, individual interview was used as a data collection procedure and a roadmap was created in order to guide the specific objectives. The discussion and data analysis were carried out under the methodology of production meanings, developed by Mary Jane Spink (2004), through an association of ideas map. The maps were constituted from discursive practices, which originating the following thematic categories of analysis: perceptive universes; interactions and participation; circulation experience. It was found a perception of a large and different Palhoça, which has movement and moves, which is good for breathing, where one can learn to live. A place where trusting relationships can be constructed and can become long-lasting. Speeches that express feeling cramped in the possible spaces to circulate, compromising the expansion of the time lived in the daily, and speeches that dealt with experiences of autonomy, being able to feel free, invading places.
