Resumo: Introduction: Quality of life in children and adolescents living with HIV is an important issue that has been little studied in Brazil. Objectives: To assess quality of life in children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS treated at the Day Hospital of the Joana de Gusmão Children's Hospital (HIJG) – Florianópolis - Santa Catarina. Methods: A cross-sectional, observational epidemiological study was carried out. We evaluated children and/or adolescents living with HIV being follow-up at the referred facility from July 2016 to February 2017. The instrument used to assess patients' quality of life was a questionnaire specific age groups (6 months to 4 years, 5 to 11 years and 12 to 14 years). The data was analyzed in the IBM SPSS Statistics 18.0® program and values of p <0.05 were considered significant. Results: 88 individuals with mean age of 9.3 ± 3.89 years were evaluated, with 52.3% being female. In the evaluation of quality of life, all domains reached scores above the 60th percentile in the 3 age groups. The best scores were observed in the domains Utilization of Health Services and Signs and Symptoms. The worst score for the age group 1 to 11 years was in the Physical resistance domain. The Physical State Assessment domain showed a significant correlation with the diagnosis time in months (r = 0.267, p = 0.012) and the time of ART use in years (r = 0.291, p = 0.006). The domain Physical State Assessment and the Psychological Health Assessment had a significant association with the age group. There was no significant association between the domains of the quality of life questionnaire and the clinical and laboratory characteristics of the study participants. Conclusion: It was generally verified that the patients' quality of life was good.
