Resumo: |
This research sought to analyze the effects of power resulting from the use of the WhatsApp instant messaging applications in the work routines of servers in a public education institution. For this, the investigative model of the paradoxes of mobile technologies was used, composed of 14 pairs of paradoxes, associated with the nine genealogical categories of power, extracted from the “foucaultian toolbox”. This is a qualitative and descriptive case study, built from the literature review, documentary research, participant observation and interviews, conducted with employees occupying a trust function, and who would be relatively more exposed to the positivities of the power and more intensive communication. It was been found that a device like WhatsApp can set institutional power games in motion, causing several very complex effects which, in certain configurations, can culminate in insidious subjugation process. However, it was also found that people, through resistance strategies and freedom practices, manage, in addition to subjection, to define more satisfactory and acceptable forms of existence in labor relationships. |
