सारांश: | The aim of this contribution is a deep reflection on the naturalization of madness and the place it occupies in the social imaginary. From analytical speeches and a literature review that retraces the history of madness, it seeks to understand the devices that lead to the pathologization of difference and, above all, from what place and withwhat purpose the knowledge about madness is constructed. The research points out that madness obtained its qualification through a social construction that defends values imposed by an authoritarian dominant class. Still reduced to a biological dimension,madness, in this society that execrates the expression of difference and creativity, continues to be an alibi for control and social adequacy, for the promotion of violence against bodies, and for the medicalization of life.Keywords:Madness, naturalization, normativity; Social imaginary |

A partir de falas analisadoras e de uma revisão bibliográfica que remonta a história da loucura, busca-se compreende os dispositivos que levam a patologização da diferença e, sobretudo, de que lugar e com qual propósito o saber sobre a loucura é construído. A investigação aponta que a loucura obteve sua qualificação através de uma construção social que defende valores impostos por uma autoritária classe dominante. Ainda reduzida a uma dimensão biológica, a loucura, nessa sociedade que execra a expressão da diferença e da criatividade, continua sendo álibi para o controle e a adequação social, para a promoção de violências sobre os corpos e para a medicalização da vida.
