Summary: The subject of this research is the human life in the bioethics of Norberto Bobbio. It is intended to answer the problem about human life as an absolute value: ab-solutus. Bioethics integrates the field that Bobbio called the fourth generation of fundamental human rights. The specific objectives of this research are to understand the breadth of fundamental human rights; presenting the universal ethical imperative You will not kill as categorical. Methodologically the study was developed through an exegesis of the writings of Bobbio, looking for an interpretive hermeneutics of his bioethical thought, giving particular importance to the work The Age of Rights. This research results in the demonstration of human life as an absolute value as a condition for all other values and rights; and the imperative You will not kill is categorical, because it protects a good that is equally categorical: human life.
