Summary: This work was developed in the automotive painting sector of an automaker in Brazil, and the study was carried out on only one car model of the automaker in question. To reduce, commonly called the orange aspect for its resemblance to a common orange peel, some of the possible causes of the defect were detected. For this, tests were carried out to evaluate the duration of temperature and humidity, affecting the quality of the painting, with the aggravation of the defect. The thickness increase test was performed to find out what the minimum thickness was, in which there was a reduction of a defect reduction. Finishing with the thermography that was performed from the manual varnish cabin, the defect of the bodywork, for later of the article, was available for use in quality application and increase for quality application. From the results obtained, it was possible to observe that the minimum thickness contributes to the reduction in orange cascade, but increases the amount of product and consequently the cost, not being feasible. As for the thermography test, it was observed that if the temperature of the bodywork decreases before applying the varnish, there is a decrease in the defect, in relation to the scale from 1 to 8, it had an increase from "5" to "4" in climbing. So, the tests to increase the thickness and temperature of the body were positive, but not viable, due to the fact that it increased the final cost of the vehicle and because it was necessary to improve the process, such as the installation of a heat wheel.

Para reduzir o defeito, comumente chamado de orange peel por seu aspecto parecido com a casca de uma laranja, foram estudados algumas das possíveis causas para o aparecimento do defeito. Para isso, foram realizados testes para avaliar a variação de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar durante um período, afetavam a qualidade da pintura, com o agravamento do defeito. O teste de aumento de espessura, foi realizado para saber qual era a espessura mínima, em que houve uma redução do defeito. Finalizando com a termografia que foi realizada dentro da cabine manual de verniz, para saber qual a temperatura que a carroceria estava, para posterior aplicação do verniz, e analisar se isto poderia afetar na qualidade e agravamento do defeito. Pelos resultados obtidos foi possível observar que o aumento mínimo da espessura, contribui na redução da casca da laranja, porém aumenta a quantidade de produto e por consequência o custo, não sendo viável. Assim como para o teste de termografia, foi observado que se a temperatura da carroceria diminui antes da aplicação do verniz, tem-se uma redução do defeito, em relação à escala de 1 à 8, teve uma diminuição de “5” para “4” na escala.
