The manufacturing area of a company is vitally important. It is what gives a company the ability to compete, responding to customer needs and ensuring the robustness necessary to keep ahead of competitors. Equipment management, where we highlight TPM, is closely linked to manufacturing performance. The OEE is an indicator that noteworthy for the evaluation of equipments performance. The indicator and its components give information to the process of continuous improvement of the company. However, using OEE to check manufacturing lines or work cells brings distortions in results if is not taken care to collect data. The overall optimum of the line often does not represent the optimum of a single machine monitored. The objective of this work is to analyze the use of the OEE indicator in a line that machines electric motor’s frame and propose a new form of monitoring that improves the quality of information. The evaluation uses the efficiency results that the line presented in the years 2015 and 2016. In order to find the solution, analyzes were made of the origins of the distortions from the point of view of the moment in which the information is needed and representativeness of the batch size. The result is a proposal that minimizes the problems of using OEE in manufacturing lines with company’s existing resources.
