Discussing Affirmative Actions in Higher Education Institutions in Santa Catarina: Between Discourses and Institutional Policies

Summary: In recent years, research on affirmative actions in higher education institutions has grown, seeking to understand its effects on student development and on the transformation of institutional culture, influenced by the presence of students from different racial, economic, and sociocultural backgrounds. This study aims to analyze the management strategies of affirmative actions in federal public higher education institutions in Santa Catarina. The specific objectives include mapping the institutions in the state and identifying the strategies adopted to manage these policies. The research uses a qualitative approach and a discursive analysis of information available on institutional websites and documents. The results indicate that the institutions present heterogeneous realities, with significant variations in their commitment to affirmative action policies. Although there has been some progress, the management of these policies still faces challenges, requiring a deeper analysis of the power relations implicit in institutional practices to promote effective changes.

Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar las estrategias de gestión de las acciones afirmativas en las instituciones públicas federales de educación superior en Santa Catarina. Los objetivos específicos incluyen realizar un levantamiento de las instituciones en el estado e identificar las estrategias adoptadas para la gestión de dichas políticas. La investigación emplea un enfoque cualitativo y un análisis discursivo de la información disponible en los sitios web y documentos institucionales. Los resultados indican que las instituciones presentan realidades heterogéneas, con variaciones significativas en cuanto al compromiso con las políticas afirmativas. Aunque se han logrado avances, la gestión de estas políticas aún enfrenta desafíos, lo que exige un análisis más profundo de las relaciones de poder implícitas en las prácticas institucionales para promover cambios efectivos.  Nos últimos anos, as pesquisas sobre ações afirmativas em instituições de ensino superior têm crescido, buscando compreender seus efeitos na formação das estudantes e na transformação da cultura institucional, influenciada pela presença de alunas de diferentes realidades raciais, econômicas e socioculturais. Este estudo objetiva analisar as estratégias de gestão das ações afirmativas nas instituições públicas federais de ensino superior em Santa Catarina. Os objetivos específicos incluem mapear as instituições no estado e identificar as estratégias adotadas para a gestão dessas políticas. A pesquisa utiliza uma abordagem qualitativa e análise discursiva das informações disponibilizadas nos sites e documentos institucionais. Os resultados indicam que as instituições apresentam realidades heterogêneas, com variações significativas no comprometimento com as políticas afirmativas.
