Embarque, transporte e desembarque executados de forma inadequada podem gerar estresse, o que leva, por conseguinte, ao comprometimento do bem-estar, da saúde e da produtividade do animal e da qualidade da carne e assim culmina na redução da lucratividade do produtor. A avaliação do manejo pré-abate pode ser acessada por meio de indicadores fisiológicos bioquímicos de bem-estar animal, os quais se encontram bem documentados na literatura. Foram utilizados 18 bovinos da raça nelore, de idades entre um ano e um ano e meio e pesos entre 140 e 380 kg, divididos em três grupos de seis animais (mais pesados, intermediários e mais leves). Os animais foram pesados e amostras de sangue foram colhidas da veia coccígea ventral. O experimento foi efetuado em três fases: com manejo e embarque tradicional; manejo tradicional com treinamento e, manejo com bandeiras. Os animais, em cada fase, foram submetidos a transporte em caminhão truque com durações de 24, 48 e 72 horas. Para fins desta monografia foi realizada a comparação dos tempos de transporte de 24, 48 e 72 horas. No laboratório foram realizados testes bioquímicos a fim de se obter as atividades enzimáticas de aspartato aminotransferase (AST), creatinoquinase (CK) e fosfatase alcalina (FA), as concentrações séricas de albumina (ALB), proteínas totais (PT), frutosamina (FrAm) e mensuração da glicose sanguínea. Buscou-se, com o presente trabalho, avaliar a influência da duração do transporte no grau de bem-estar animal por meio de indicadores fisiológicos bioquímicos. Para a análise estatística foi realizada ANOVA e foram utilizados o General Linear Model e fatores fixos. As diferenças entre as médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Tukey, dentro do programa SAS. A concentração média de CK foi maior com transporte de 72 horas sendo sugestivo de injúrias e desgaste muscular. ALB apresentou-se maior ao fim do transporte de 48 horas, possivelmente estando relacionada à desidratação. Esse também é o motivo sugerido para o maior valor de PT obtido ao fim de 72 horas de transporte em comparação ao transporte de 24 horas. Depleção de reservas metabólicas em conseqüência de jejum prolongado apresenta-se como possível causa para a redução de GLIC. O aumento de FrAm ao fim de 48 horas de transporte pode estar relacionado ao efeito de catecolaminas em resposta a estressores. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTTransport of live animals figure as an important key in the animal production chain. Loading, transport and unloading performed improperly can cause stress, which leads impaired welfare, meat quality, health and productivity of animals and thus, culminates in profitability reduction. The evaluation of pre-slaughter management can be accessed by evaluation of serical biochemical parameters used as welfare indicators, witch, in turn, are well documented in the literature. Were used for the considerations of this study, data pertaining to an experiment conducted with 18 nelore cattle, with age between one year and a year and a half and weights between 140 and 380 kg, were divided into three groups of six animals (heavy, intermediate and lighter). The animals were weighed and blood samples were collected from the ventral coccygeal vein. The experiment was conducted in three phases: traditional management and loading, traditional management training and management with flags. In each phase animals were subjected to transport with durations of 24, 48 and 72 hours in the truck trick. This work aims to compare the transport times of 24, 48 and 72 hours. In the laboratory biochemical tests were performed in order to obtain the enzymatic activity of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase (CK) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), serum concentrations of albumin (ALB), total protein (TP), fructosamine (Frame) and measurement of blood glucose (GLIC). Sought, this study was to evaluate the influence of transportation time in the degree of animal welfare through biochemical physiological indicators. It was done an ANOVA procedure, and were utilized General Linear Model and fixed factors. The differences between means were compared by Tukey test. The average concentration of CK was higher with 72 hours of transport being suggestive of muscle damage and injuries. ALB was higher after 48 hours of transport, possibly being related to dehydration. This is also the reason suggested for the largest value of PT achieved within 72 hours of transportation in comparison to the transport of 24 hours. Depletion of metabolic consequence of prolonged fasting is presented as a possible cause for the reduction of carbohydrates.
