As alterações feitas em uma notícia on-line após sua publicação, contudo, nem sempre são explícitas ao leitor. A internet diferente de outros meios de comunicação de massa possibilita recursos de atualização constantes e quase em tempo real. Baseado neste contexto, esta pesquisa buscou analisar, por meio de um experimento on-line, como as atualizações podem afetar a percepção de credibilidade do leitor de uma notícia on-line. Os resultados do estudo indicaram que apenas metade dos 224 participantes da pesquisa notou as informações de atualização. Mesmos os profissionais ou estudantes da área da comunicação não se atentaram para as atualizações do texto. De forma geral, os detalhes de atualizações não parecem afetar a percepção de precisão, veracidade/autenticidade ou de confiança de uma notícia on-line, segundo os resultados deste estudo. Changes made to an on-line news article after its publication, however, are not always explicit to the reader. The internet, unlike other mass media, provides constant and almost real-time updates. Based on this context, this research aimed to analyze, through an on-line experiment, how updates can affect the credibility perception of the on-line news reader. The results of the study indicated that only half of the 224 survey participants noticed the update information. Even the professionals or students in the field of communication did not pay attention to the updates of the text. In general, the details of updates do not affect the perception of accuracy, authenticity or reliability of an online news article, according to the results of this study.
