Summary: The study aimed to identify occupational accidents in a surgical center unit in a general hospital in the northern area in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Quantitative study, descriptive and documentary type, in which notifications of occupational accidents occurred between 2001 and 2012 were analyzed. Data collection occurred through the notifications of occupa-tional accidents, totaling 64 records. Occupational accidents occurred with women (n=59; 92%), exercising the profession of nursing (n=61; 95%), active in the profession at an average of three years. Most accidents occurred during the morning and afternoon, with needlestick, and hands were the most affected area. It was concluded that actions should be proposed to the most affected subjects, so that the number of accidents decrease.

O estudo teve por objetivo identificar os acidentes de trabalho em uma unidade de centro cirúrgico em um hospital geral do norte do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Estudo quantitativo, do tipo descritivo e documental, no qual foram analisadas as notificações de acidentes de trabalho, ocorridas entre 2001 e 2012. A coleta de dados se deu por meio das notificações de acidente de trabalho, totalizando 64 prontuários. Os acidentes de trabalho ocorreram com mulheres (n=59; 92%), que exerciam a profissão de técnico em enfermagem (n=61; 95%), atuantes na profissão em média a 3 anos. A maior parte dos acidentes ocorreu no período da manhã e tarde, com material perfurocortante, sendo as mãos a parte do corpo mais atingida.
