Summary: This is a descriptive and exploratory study with a quantitative method using an analysis of data in terms of absolute andrelative frequency. It aims to identify signals of premenstrualsyndrome of nursing teams and verify whether these interfere in theadequate performance of work tasks. The research was carried out with 30 hardworking women of the Surgical Center of big PrivateHospital of Santos city. A form was applied containing 15 structured questions. Most study subjects had from 28 to 32 years of age andwere trained as nursing assistants. From the investigated symptoms, breasts intumescing was the most frequent, followed by a weightsensation in the pelvis, abdominal pains and irritability; most subjects had more than 5 signals and symptoms of premenstrual syndrome,problems that do not influence absence from work: 26 (87.0%) of the sample did work in spite of this. Thus, the research identifiedsymptoms of premenstrual syndrome, but these do not interfere in the adequate professional performance.

A pesquisa foi realizada com 30 mulheres trabalhadoras do Centro Cirúrgico de um Hospital Privadode grande porte da cidade de Santos. Foi aplicado um formulário contendo 15 perguntas estruturadas. Obteve-se como resultados que,da amostra estudada, a maioria apresentava idade entre 28 e 32 anos, com formação de auxiliares de enfermagem. Dos sintomas pesquisados,entumescimento das mamas teve maior freqüência, seguido por sensação de peso na pelve, dores abdominais e irritabilidade;a maioria com mais de 5 sinais e sintomas, fato que caracteriza a síndrome pré-menstrual, e estas manifestações não influenciam aausência no trabalho com 26 (87,0%) da amostra.
