The rehabilitation proposal for the headquarters of the NGO2 Atelier Mar1 in the Cape Verdean city of Mindelo covers the field of sustainability and architectural intervention in respect to the built heritage. It is intended to benefit from the existing building and strenghten its importance, while appreciating and redevelopping the cultural, natural and architectural aspects. This work is understood as an intersection of various disciplines, in addition to architecture, are also involved way of the life of the author, the proximity to the object and recognition of the history of the building and the organization, which deserve to be preserved and recovered in the materialization of this project. The project seeks to synthesize the history of a compound of an organization founded by one person who has a specific route of life, with a field of intervention oriented on the socio-communitarian development. The proposed program seeks to underline the NGO's actions in the promotion of better living and working conditions, equiping Cape Verdian territories for the upcoming development challenges. The redevelopment of this building is triggered by an constant inner process and the need to adapt to its new needs, revealing its history and adding new elements, proposing the use of alternative construction systems and adapted to the Cape Verdean context.
