Tanto portugueses como chineses têm demonstrado grande entusiasmo relativamente a esta atividade, embora as culturas futebolísticas dos dois países se tenham desenvolvido de maneira diferente. O futebol português, inspirado pelo futebol moderno da Inglaterra, estabeleceu uma base sólida desde o início. Ultimamente, a seleção nacional de Portugal tem conseguido grandes avanços e está atualmente classificada no sexto lugar do ranking mundial da FIFA. No entanto, devido à caraterística de entretenimento de "Cuju" e às múltiplas mudanças sociais e históricas ao longo dos anos, não se verifica uma cultura futebolística bem-definida na China, e a seleção chinesa masculina tem tido um desempenho insatisfatório. Baseado nas diferentes culturas e estados de desenvolvimento do futebol nos dois países, o presente trabalho propõe-se a apresentar brevemente a história do desenvolvimento do futebol, as estruturas organizacionais, as equipas representativas e as políticas e reformas de Portugal e da China. Por fim, através de questionários, procura entender as perspetivas dos povos de ambos os países sobre a sua própria cultura futebolística e a cultura do outro país. Toma também como objetivo aprofundar a comunicação intercultural entre os dois países e fornecer inspiração e apoio para futuros estudos relacionadas com o tema.Football, renowned as “the world’s most popular sport”, is currently the most influential individual sport in the global sports arena. In terms of this popular sport, both Portuguese and Chinese have been showing great enthusiasm for it. However, the football cultures of the two countries have displayed different development tendencies. Portuguese football established a relatively solid foundation from the beginning due to the inspiration drawn from the modern football in England. In recent years, the Portuguese national football team has been making significant progress and is currently ranked sixth in the FIFA official list. Nevertheless, there is no well-defined football culture in modern China due to Cuju’s focus on entertainment and the complex social and historical changes over thousands of years in China. Based on the different football cultures and development statuses, this dissertation aims to briefly present the football history, organizational institutions, representative clubs, and policy changes of both Portugal and China. Furthermore, it seeks to grasp the overall views of the people of both countries on their own and each other's football cultures.
