Esta residência senhorial fez parte do inventário de um morgadio instituído em 1430 por um cavaleiro e sua mulher. Atualmente, encontra-se parcialmente abandonada e num estado de degradação que ameaça comprometer o seu valor arquitetónico. Tendo a sua fundação acontecido possivelmente ainda na Idade Média, ela foi assumindo diferentes configurações ao longo dos séculos. Com o objetivo de fazer uma interpretação evolucional deste conjunto arquitetónico, ou seja, enquadrar cada uma das suas fases construtivas num período histórico-artístico e reconstituir os seus respetivos estratos arquitetónicos, foi realizada uma exaustiva pesquisa bibliográfica. A escassez de informação disponível relativa ao objeto, nomeadamente ao seu desenho, tornou necessária a realização dos levantamentos arquitetónico e fotográfico, que permitiram fixar o seu estado atual. O cruzamento de todos os dados recolhidos com os levantamentos, juntamente com a comparação com outros casos de contextos semelhantes e a análise de estudos sobre esta temática, permitiram a criação de uma linha cronológica que sintetiza as possíveis fases construtivas do objeto, e a sua integração na historiografia da arquitetura portuguesa. Numa parte final é feita uma reflexão sobre o conceito de património e a evolução dos procedimentos de intervenção sobre ele bem como a importância do reconhecimento e valorização da Casa de São Miguel. Com vista a ser também uma ferramenta de auxílio a futuras intervenções, é aqui apresentada uma síntese da investigação realizada expondo a relevância e significado dos elementos, constituintes deste conjunto, que lhe conferem valor patrimonial. Cada elemento tem uma história, comprovando a existência deste objeto em diferentes épocas, o que o torna único e com valor histórico e arquitetónico, sendo por isso importante motivar a sua preservação.This work consists of a historical and morphological analysis of the built complex of Quinta de São Miguel located in the parish of São Clemente de Sande in Guimarães. This manor house was part of the inventory of an estate instituted in 1430 by a knight and his wife. Currently, it is partially abandoned and in a state of degradation that threatens to compromise its architectural value. Since its foundation possibly in the Middle Ages, it has taken on different configurations over the centuries. With the purpose of making an evolutionary interpretation of this architectural ensemble, that is, to frame each of its construction phases in a historical-artistic period and reconstruct its respective architectural strata, an exhaustive bibliographic search was carried out. The scarcity of available information related to the object, namely its design, made it necessary to carry out architectural and photographic surveys to fix its current state. The crossing of all the data collected with the surveys, together with the comparison with other cases of similar contexts and the analysis of studies on the subject, allowed the creation of a timeline that summarizes the possible construction phases of the object, and their integration in the historiography of Portuguese architecture. In the final segment, a reflection is made on the concept of heritage and the evolution of intervention procedures on the architectural heritage, as well as the importance of the recognition and appreciation of Casa de São Miguel. In order to also be a tool to aid future interventions, a summary of the research carried out is presented, exposing the relevance and meaning of each of the constituent elements of this set, which grant it patrimonial value.
