Through historical and geographical analysis of the region, it seeks to understand the cultural, environmental, and touristic significance of this place, while identifying the challenges associated with it, such as tourism pressure, climate change, and the degradation of the natural environment. Based on the exposition and interpretation of these identified issues, an architectural proposal is developed to address and mitigate the negative aspects. The proposal involves a Visitor Center located in Piornos, integrated into a broader strategy that focuses on three key locations: Lagoa Comprida, Torre, and Piornos. The proposed intervention includes the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure in Piornos, such as the platforms and the old cable car building, which will be transformed into educational, interpretive, and welcoming spaces. The proposal aims to balance the need for tourist infrastructure with the preservation of environmental, economic, and cultural values, promoting a more conscious interaction between visitors and the Serra da Estrela territory. The project seeks to conceive an architectural solution that simultaneously promotes responsible tourism and conserves the biodiversity of Serra da Estrela. To this end, environmental, cultural, and social aspects are considered, with the creation of spaces that offer an enriching, integrated experience for visitors within nature. The proposal offers a reflection on the relationship between humans and the natural environment, emphasizing the importance of tourism management.A presente dissertação tem como objetivo desenvolver um pensamento acerca da necessidade de transformação e requalificação da identidade do Planalto Superior da Serra da Estrela, em particular o modo de ocupação na Torre. Propõe-se, através da análise histórica e geográfica da região, compreender a importância cultural, ambiental e turística deste lugar, ao mesmo tempo que é identificado os problemas deles decorrentes, como a pressão do turismo, as alterações climáticas e a degradação do meio natural. Com base na exposição e interpretação dos problemas identificados, é desenvolvida uma proposta arquitetónica que procura solucionar e reverter os pontos negativos.A proposta consiste num Centro de Visitantes, no lugar de Piornos, inserido numa estratégia mais ampla que tem como pontos-chave 3 locais: Lagoa Comprida, Torre e Piornos. A intervenção proposta engloba a reabilitação das infraestruturas existentes no lugar de Piornos, seja as plataformas ou o edifício do antigo teleférico, que serão transformados em espaços educativos, interpretativos e de acolhimento. A proposta procura equilibrar a necessidade de infraestruturas para os turistas com a preservação ambiental , económica e cultural, promovendo uma interação mais consciente entre o visitante e o Território da Serra da Estrela.O trabalho tem como objetivo conceber uma solução arquitectónica que, ao mesmo tempo, promova o turismo responsável e conserve a biodiversidade da Serra da Estrela. Com este intuito, são considerados aspectos ambientais, culturais e sociais, com a criação de espaços que proporcionassem um convívio enriquecedor do visitante de modo integrado com a natureza.
