Na verdade, o nosso país é conhecido pela sua diversidade de paisagens que incluem praias maravilhosas ao longo da costa e montanhas ao longo de todo o interior, destacando-se a Serra da Estrela, majestosa cadeia montanhosa situada no coração de Portugal.Esta dissertação tem como objeto de estudo a Serra da Estrela, mais especificamente o lugar da Torre. Conhecer as suas características físicas e ambientais ajuda-nos a compreender este território, cuja importância vai para além dos seus limites físicos. A sua herança histórica e cultural é inegável, as suas aldeias e tradições centenárias refletem a ligação profunda entre as comunidades locais e o seu ambiente natural. Refletir sobre o passado e conhecer o estado mais natural deste território permite-nos compreender o seu presente e concluir que a Serra da Estrela tem sido vítima de mudanças causadas pela mão do homem, como as alterações climáticas e o mau uso do território no geral. Então, um desafio se coloca: Como renaturalizar a Serra da Estrela?O projeto apresentado nesta dissertação pretende dar resposta ao desafio lançado. Numa primeira abordagem, em grupo, foi delineada uma estratégia geral para a Serra da Estrela que engloba três locais distintos: Lagoa Comprida, a 1600 metros de altitude, Torre, a 1993 metros, e Piornos, a 1600 metros. Partindo dos pressupostos desta estratégia geral, o projeto individual, que tem como objeto específico a Torre, pretende apresentar uma proposta consciente a nível ambiental, cultural e social, contribuindo para a renaturalização e preservação do património natural e cultural da Serra da Estrela. O objetivo é manter um equilíbrio entre a preservação da natureza e o turismo. Considerando que é preciso conhecer para valorizar e respeitar, este projeto pretende fazer da Torre um lugar de conhecimento.A escavação surge como estratégia para desenhar espaços enquadrados na paisagem que, ao mesmo tempo que dão a conhecer o património natural e cultural da Serra da Estrela, constituem por si só material de conhecimento.ABSTRACTOur history allows us to see that we have always been a people focused on the sea; However, despite being a small “planted seaside” country, we are also a country of mountains, and we can proudly say that we have one of the most beautiful mountains in Europe, Serra da Estrela. In fact, our country is known for its diversity of landscapes, which include wonderful beaches along the coast and mountains throughout the interior, highlighting the Serra da Estrela, a majestic mountain range located in the heart of Portugal.This dissertation has as its object of study the Serra da Estrela, more specifically the place of Torre. Knowing its physical and environmental characteristics helps us understand the origin of this territory, whose importance goes beyond its physical limits. Its historical and cultural heritage is undeniable, its centuries-old villages and traditions reflect the deep connection between local communities and their natural environment. Reflecting on the past and knowing the most natural state of this territory allows us to understand its present and conclude that Serra da Estrela has been a victim of changes caused by man, such as climate change and poor use of the territory in general. So, a challenge arises: How can Serra da Estrela be renaturalized?The project presented in this dissertation aims to respond to the challenge raised. In a first group approach, a general strategy was outlined for Serra da Estrela that encompasses three distinct locations: Lagoa Comprida, at 1600 meters above sea level, Torre, at 1993 meters, and Piornos, at 1600 meters. Based on the assumptions of this general strategy, this individual project, which has the Tower as its specific objective, aims to present a conscious proposal at an environmental, cultural and social level, contributing to the renaturalization and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of Serra da Estrela. The objective is to maintain a balance between nature preservation and tourism.
