Pretendi inicialmente compreender e analisar as razões para o surgimento de um movimento de teatro ao ar livre, que alastrou a toda a Europa e Estados Unidos, no final do século XIX e primeiras décadas do século XX. Analisando os principais focos difusores, as principais motivações e formas de expressão de cada um deles, tentei compreender como esta vaga artística chegou a Portugal, como nasceu a companhia Teatro da Natureza, quem impulsionou e concretizou o projecto e como este foi recebido pelo público, utilizando como fontes o olhar da imprensa e o testemunho de participantes do projecto.Abstract: This work focuses mainly on the Teatro da Natureza, a Portuguese theatre company that put up some shows at the Jardim da Estrela, in Lisbon, in the summer of 1911. It further intends to understand and analyze the reasons for the emergence of a movement of outdoor theatre, which spread throughout Europe and the United States by the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th.
