Resumo em Inglês: The present study had, as main object, the discipline of mathematic in graduation courses, with a focus in Mechanical Engineering of two Universities in State of Paraná. The interest in the theme came from the joint experience, as an engineering student and as a math teacher, in search of the meaning of mathematical disciplines in school and professional future. The study was made to evaluate the problems of everyday school practice in these courses, and made possible to identify and analyse the difficulties faced by teachers and students to deal with the mathematical concepts. Was used a theoretical reflection based on bibliographical research characterized by analysis and synthesis of information provided by relevant studies published on the subject. A field research was made using an unidentified questionnaire for students of the Mechanical Engineering course at the both Universities. The analysis of the results has shown how the mechanical engineering math‟s teachers relates the content to the specific issues of vocational disciplines.
