Now the companies live together in a very competitive and aggressive market. The making of decision became fundamental for the survival of any organization. Inside of this context the sources of reliable information come as a strong tool for the competitive development of the industrial section. This work presents and the results obtained in a research accomplished the companies of Curitiba and surrounding cities close to discusses. This area had a great growth in its industrial complex in the last five years with the consolidation of a significant park automotivo. Through this research, it was lifted up the situation of the maintenance in the area of the capital paranaense, tends its analyzed results and compared with the “ I Document National 2001–THE Situation of the Maintenance in Brazil” , elaborated and published by ABRAMAN. In this parallel plan the following aspects related with the industrial maintenance are approached: organization forms, the profile of the developed activities, human resources of the companies, costs, contracts of services, control forms, use of the computer science, administration of the quality, professional qualification, equipments, tools, industrial safety, training and technological development. In the work a brief one is presented historical on the rising of maintenance indicators in Brazil. Also it contextualizes the industrial maintenance inside of the current scenery globalizado, accompanying the evolutionary change thatthe industrial facilities suffered in the last decades. Although this work representsonly a moment of the situation, corresponding to the interval of the research, its results cannot and they should be used as reference for the manutentores community.
