Resumo: This research developed monitoring of physical, chemical and microbiological parameters for assessing the quality of groundwater in the city of Medianeira, in the Paraná State (PR). At the same time, from the determination of levels of vulnerability of the Serra Geral Aquifer, a map of vulnerability of groundwater was developed. To survey data, 42 wells were monitored in two stages. Was evaluated several physical, chemical and microbiological parameters to assess the potability and the possible occurrence of inorganic contaminants, as well as the analysis of the particularities of the region and its usage characteristics, land use and geological formation. In the vulnerability index determination was employed GOD method, which was used information of 73 underground water collection points distributed by the city of Medianeira - PR. The results indicate that 75% of the municipal area is situated in the area concerned insignificant vulnerability and the other 25% are defined in low vulnerability areas. About the Physico-chemical and microbiological monitoring, 41 parameters were analyzed, where 17 are considered standard for drinking water by Brazilian Legislation and of those, at least 10 parameters showed values not allowed by legislation in the monitoring period. Therefore, various parameters analyzed water quality proved to be considered non potable regarding Brazilian Legislation, proving that one must have some attention to the water consumed. In this way, the actual knowledge about the characteristics of exploited aquifer and monitoring the characteristics of these waters is essential to regulate any rational exploitation, present or future, in order to preserve the quality of groundwater resources in the region.
