Resumo: | The use of Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) equipment and the development of abrasive paste using oiticica oil, objects of this dissertation, are a necessity in the face of the problems related to the surface finishing process of pieces with existing pastes. Proper surface finishing and polishing improves the quality and performance efficiency of the work. With this, the main objective of this work was to use an alternative equipment and paste for the machining of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and SAE 1045 steel pieces. A prepared formulation of abrasive paste with oiticica oil and solid particles of silicon carbide was proposed and compared with a conventional paste in the machining of the two metals in question. In the tests, the mass, the roughness, the surface of the specimens and the diameter before and after the machining were analyzed. The variation of the number of cycles in the Abrasive Flow Machining was established, keeping the size and concentration of the metal particles in the studied pastes constant. The paste formulation with oiticica oil has proved to be a new commercial paste option in the development phase that may contribute to a better performance in the micro-machining of metal pieces. |
