Resumo: |
Cerrado is one of the largest Brazilian biomes and one of the richest and most endangered savannas in the world. In the state of São Paulo, it originally covered about 14% of the territory. A historical evaluation shows that from 1962 to 2001 88.5% of paulista Cerrado were lost. This percentage corresponds to 1,625,229 hectares of Cerrado. The conservation units hold only 0.51% of the State's original Cerrado, therefore defining priority areas for conservation is a relevant and urgent strategy to maintain the biodiversity of this biome in the state. In this sense, an evaluation of endangered species of the Cerrado paulista was carried out using the municipalities as sampling unit, identifying gaps, phytophysiognomies and fragments not protected or neglected by research or conservation actions. The presence and / or absence of rare and / or endangered species was used as one of the variables for classification of areas and establishment of the conservation strategies to be adopted. To obtain the data: 1) a bibliographic survey was carried out on all knowledge generated on the cerrado of São Paulo; 2) all management plans were analyzed. There are 267 municipalities in the paulista Cerrado domain, however, during the study, 217,513 hectares of Cerrado were found distributed in 299 municipalities. Thirty species of mammals, 97 species of birds, 18 species of reptiles, seven species of amphibians and 528 species of phanerogamic plants were used as target species. From the list of 299 municipalities which have Cerrado, the ones which presented the highest number of records for each group and the highest amount of native vegetation were selected to become priority for conservation. The number of municipalities selected accounts to 30. It is recommended that the public authorities urgently define conservation strategies for these fragments. |
