Epidemiologia e definição de critérios morfológicos para o diagnóstico dos indivíduos portadores de padrão face curta, em escolares matriculados no ensino fundamental do município de Palmitos/SC

Resumo: The aim of the study was to perform an epidemiologic evaluation and to define the morphologic criteria to the diagnostic of individuals with Short Face Patterns, in students registered in the elementary school in the county of Palmitos/SC. Method: facial photographs ( frontal, lateral profile and frontal smiling) of 7 individuals (2 females and 5 males) with ages ranging between 12 and 15 years and with short face pattern were selected from a sample of 1.093 students registered in the elementary school in the county of Palmitos/SC, considering only the facial morphology. Results: After the analysis of the photographs, 07 individuals were classified as short face pattern, representing an incidence of 0.64%. Out of these, 2 were females (29%) and 5 males (71%). The highest frequency was found in the age of 13, with 4 individuals, followed by the age of 12 with 2 individuals and only 1 individual with 14 years old. Conclusions: the results led to the conclusion that the incidence of individuals presenting Short Face Pattern in students with ages between 12 and 15 years in the county of Palmitos/SC is extremely small (only 0,64%) with males showing the highest incidence ate the age of 13.
