Resumo: |
Over the years, public health in Brazil was developed and incremented by its successive governments. Oral health was encompassed by public system in the decade of 1950, and intensified after the constitution of 1988 with the advent of Unique System of Health (Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS). Oral health public politics expanded and evolved with the creation of National Oral Health Politics (Política Nacional de Saúde Bucal - PNSB) in 2004, creating the program Smiling Brazil (Brasil Sorridente) which started Dental Specialty Center (Centro de Especialidade Odontológicas - CEO). This work had the objective of evaluating the continuity of restorative dental treatment in patients submitted to endodontic treatment in the CEO of Bauru. It were select medical records from patients from the years of 2016 and 2017 treated on the endodontic department from the CEO of Bauru, and those patients were called for evaluation. 340 teeth treated endodontically in CEO were examined and had its situation evaluated, in other words, if its function was re-established. In order to do that, patients applied a questionnaire that permitted to evaluate the reasons of the conclusion or not conclusion of the restorative treatment. From the 340 evaluated teeth, 284 received restorative treatment, from those, 86 teeth were treated in the Basic Unity of Health (Unidades Básicas de Saúde - UBS), 122 teeth were finished in Health Family Strategy (Estratégia de Saúde da Família - ESF) and 76 teeth were treated in others city’s primary health services. 56 teeth were presented without reestablished function. The questionnaires showed that 76,8% of patients received the counter reference after finishing the endodontic treatment. According to the results, we could conclude that most of the endodontic teeth treated on the CEO of Bauru had its functions re-established in the same health units that forwarded the patients, showing the efficiency of the municipal reference and counter reference system. However, it was also found that there were a percentage of not concluded treatments, showing that it is necessary to work out strategies to heal those difficulties. |
