Resumo: The digital media, currently constitutes a health education tool, based on this information the aim of this work was the creation of a new tool for prevention of oral cancer through a mobile application, with interaction with digital social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Youtube. The mouth self-exam App was developed in Portuguese for download in the Google Play database, so it's available for free. The method used to create the application was the hybrid development platform called Ionic, a framework for mobile development compatible with any Android operating system. After its availability, 267 downloads were made, not only in Brazil, but also in countries in Europe and Asia. The pages of Facebook and Instagram had an expressive reach, achieving 3,700 tanned from the period that was released on 04/09/2017 until 02/06/2018. Compared to the other nine applications available on the Google Play platform, the mouth self-exam showed a significant number of downloads, which is larger than the others available. Thus, it was observed that the application has the simple format, which makes it very practical and efficient, with worldwide reach, being very well evaluated. However, in order for this application to become more accessible and result in more downloads, it would be interesting to have its English and Spanish version available on the Apple operating system. Word-of-mouth marketing, social media publications and Whatsapp groups were not enough to reach a large audience. Dissemination between the dental and medical class and its dissemination in the Unified Health System would be strategies that could contribute to its expansion.
