Resumo: Railway transport played a significant role in the economic and social development of Pernambuco from the second half of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. Along the more than 1300 km of tracks that made up the Pernambuco rail network, several railway stations were built, serving small, medium and large cities in the Zona da Mata, Agreste and Sertão, performing functions related to the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers and loads, integrating the history and memories of these places. With the gradual deactivation of rail transport, these buildings have consolidated themselves as the main elements of Pernambuco's rail heritage. Seeking to understand how these goods are preserved through new uses, this work aims to analyze the relationship between the history, preservation and the refunctionalization of Pernambuco's railway stations, based on the heritage process of the railway in the state.
