This work discusses how Josué Apolônio de Castro (1908 - 1973) feels and imagines the city of Recife, through its textual production, especially in the books, Documentário do Nordeste (1937) and Fatôres de localização da cidade do Recife (1948). Our main goal is to interpret the images constructed by Pernambuco intellectual Josué de Castro, about the city of Recife at this time, but we assume, are still persist. We note that an element stands out in Josué de Castro's description of the landscape of Recife: the presence of rivers, Capibaribe and Beberibe. We understand that your multiple look was able to see the symbolism, highlighting the double-sided mythical rivers, which are important for the development of image of Recife. Thus, articulate, mainly to see the way they look, the concepts of historical social imaginary proposed by Cornelius Castoriadis, the landscape and myth in Simon Schama and the image of concept in Jacques Aumont, to reflect on these images produced by Josué de Castro. |
