Distance Education is a modality of tuition that has been expanded in the last years, stemming from the demands of the contemporary society, as in the economic field, as in the social, political and educational ones. Therefore, with the advent of new technologies on information and communication, new ways of teaching and learning emerge. In this scenario of constant changing, this investigation analyses the process of implantation and consolidation of the distance education at the faculty Institute of Higher Education Multiplus – IHEM, from the city of Timon-MA, with the specific aims of: to describe the implementation process of the Distance Education at the faculty IHEM – Timon-MA; to evaluate the strategic factors which motivated the implantation of the Distance Education at the IHEM; to elaborate an SWOT analysis of the Distance Education at the faculty IHEM in the managers’ perception. This research is of applied nature, because it is aimed to propose management strategies related to the Distance Education which afford greater efficiency, efficacy and effectiveness in the IHEM’s actions. It is an research of qualitative approach, with the investigation of the values’ perception, of the principles, of the mission and of the vision of the faculty IHEM and whose the elements of the strategic planning are directed to the organizational culture of the managers, alike to the implantation process of the Distance Education at the IHEM, from the optics of the Heads. As a research instrument, used a questionnaire with items ruled by the Likert Scale, about the perception of the managers regarding to the implantation and to the conduction of the Distance Education at the Faculty IHEM, as a well as the managers’ perception in the strategic level of the IHEM over the tripod knowledge, abilities and attitudes. It was also applied the technique of the focus group with the finality of building the SWOT matrix, which refers to the strengths, to the weaknesses, to the opportunities and to the threatens related to the Distance Education’s implantation at the Faculty IHEM. Based on the results, starting from the applicability of the analysis of the SWOT matrix, it was possible to make a diagnosis of the strengths and weaken points, as well as the aspects related to the opportunities and the threatens which can impact in the implementation of the Distance Education at the Faculty IHEM. Therefore, such analysis point out some ways that the institution must seek, in the sense of keeping its financial sustainability, once already have the reconnaissance of the society and of the academic community about the educational services carried out over 15 years of the institution’s acting. |
