Resumo: |
Over the past few years a significant number of programs, laws and norms have been developed in Brazil and in the world that seek to improve aspects related to the socio-environmental issue, as well as several instruments that seek to facilitate the implementation and dissemination of these spheres of organizational responsibility . The emergence of the concept of sustainable development brought changes in the way of acting, not only of companies, but of all, in the sense of adopting daily practices that show respect and concern for nature. In this context of changes, public institutions, especially Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), are inserted because they have a fundamental role in the process of changing society regarding sustainability issues. This study aims to make a diagnosis about the socio-environmental actions being taken in the management of the Serra Talhada Academic Unit of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, UAST / UFRPE, based on management and operational practices related to the strategy for sustainability, relations with employees and Environmental Management. The research adopted a qualitative and quantitative approach and is configured as an applied and descriptive nature. In order to collect the data, this research made use of bibliographical and documentary research, direct observation and the application of questionnaires. As methodological procedure was adopted the participatory research and the case study. As a result, the institution's preoccupation with the environmental issue could be evidenced, since it is formally inserted in its management, even in an incipient way. It was also observed that the Institution partially complies with the guidelines proposed by the A3P, although it has not been able to formally join this program, and that existing actions occur in isolated and disjointed ways, but with the implementation of a specific chapter in the Institutional Development Plan (PDI), this scenario has been changing. However, the perception of the staff, specifically teachers and technicians, crowded at the Serra Talhada Academic Unit, diverges regarding institutional positioning regarding social and environmental issues, suggesting the need for a better dissemination of existing UAST actions. The analysis indicates the need to create an environmental agenda and a committee to discuss the social and environmental issues with teachers, students and university representatives, since the theme requires the efforts of the entire academic community to achieve the expected results. |
