The relevant increase in the number of select companies in the garment industry and related activities with the Secretary of the State of Pernambuco in the county of Riacho das Almas, shows the share of the relevant municipality in APL clothing in Pernambuco state. This activity is already established and ingrained in the cities of Caruaru, Santa Cruz do Capibaribe and Toritama. This research aims to review developments and to characterize the production of the garment industry in the county of Riacho das Almas - which is slightly less than 20 km from the city of Caruaru, one of the three major cities of the Garments 'Pole' of the Agreste of Pernambuco, and 162 km from Recife, capital of the state - by examining the consequences of growth and development of this activity, especially in the rural area. Within the perspective of this research is a survey and analysis of the installation of these companies in the Rural Zone, and the consequent transfer of the labor force for rural local garment industry, without the necessary qualifications or expertise, in addition to examining the high rate of informal enterprises and hiding their employees. Another aspect of this research is to identify measures and projects which the government is taking to support the growth and structure of this branch of activity, including providing environmental preservation, since many of these companies are based in the rural municipality.
