Resumo: This work aims to propose counter-hegemonic pedagogical alternatives that contribute to the process of teaching and learning History and the use of the literacy text Men and Crabs (2003) as a didactic resource in this methodological procedure. To do this so, it seeks to offer answers to the following questions: how does the Teaching of History become relevant to understand the local reality of students? And how can literary texts be used as a didactic resource to analyse the historical issues of certain places? The theorical and methodological assumptions that underpin the investigation of the work are from different areas of knowledge and relate in an interdisciplinary way, to reflect on the practice of teaching and learning History and collaborate in the construction of a counter-hegemonic pedagogical alternative. The basic methodological procedure of the study is the thematic research, developed by Paulo Freire (2019). This method seeks to establish an interdisciplinar relathionship between History Teaching and the use of literary text as a didactic resource to build other readings on the Local History of Recife.
