Resumo: Slope stabilization is critical for the success of various types of constructions and has significant implications for the prevention of landslide accidents. In this sense, the present work had as objective to evaluate in experimental plots installed in slope the performance of the emerald grass (Zoysia japonica) associated or not with coconut powder in different planting techniques. For this, the following treatments were implanted: (TH) grass horizontally placed rugs; (TVP) grass vertically placed rugs with application of coconut powder; (TV) grass vertically placed rugs; with two replicates and one control plot (TC). The parameters evaluated were rainfall, runoff, sediment loss and erosion pins. The predominant rainfall pattern observed during the experimental work was delayed (45%), followed by the advanced pattern (36%) and intermediate (19%) with a total of 465.9 mm and a maximum intensity of 30.0 mm/h. The flow was 58.51% on TC, 28.53% on TV, 28.16% on TH and 16.31% on TVP. Loss of sediments was 56.12% on TC, 0.41% on TH, 0.37% on TV and 0.23% on TVP. The erosion measured with pins had a mean of 2.4 mm in the TC, 1.2 mm in the TH, 0.8 mm in the TV and 0.7 mm in the TVP. The results show that in the unprotected soil there is a significant loss of sediment, while the vegetation cover guarantees the integrity of the soil and the treatment with greater efficiency was the grass rugs installed with coconut powder.
