Resumo: Sleep can be de ned as "a period of rest for the body and mind, during which volition and consciousness are in abeyance and bodily functions are partially suspended; also described as a behavioral state, with characteristic immobile posture and diminished but readily reversible sensitivity to external stimuli". In this context, sleep is an essential factor for quality of life, providing an improvement in human well-being. In addition, it is important for the recovery of health in disease situation. Therefore, a cross-sectional study was carried out in April of 2017 with the objective of evaluate and model the sleep quality (QS) in the communities of Poço do Serrote, Catolé, Três Irmãos, and Poldrinho belonging to the Sertão do Pajeú / PE, incorporating the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (IQSP) questionnaire and sociodemographic relationships. In addition, it was also of interest to characterize the general pro le of the residents and identify factors associated with sleep quality. The methodology used will consist of the characterization of the research, the characterization of the participants, the inclusion and exclusion criteria and the binomial logistic modeling. Of the 120 residents contacted, 20 denied participation and 27 had data incomplete, summarizing the 73 questionnaires analyzed. The results showed that 98.7% of the residents referred subjective quality sleep as good or very good; however, the following problems related to sleep were noted for their high frequency: getting up to go to the bathroom (56.3%); wake in the middle of the night or very early in the morning (54.8 %) in less than 1x/week. The multivariate analysis indicated that, in addition to the Cochilo variable, the variables "Gender", "Marital status" and "Age" were also found as explanatory factors for sleep quality, with a prediction of approximately 80%.
