Resumo: This work aimed to study the use of mined gypsum in alic soils, observing, under field conditions, its effects on the soil environment, and its nutritional and productive implications on sugarcane. An experiment was conducted in agricultural área of Trapiche Mill, South Forest Zone of Pernambuco, in a Yellow Oxisol. The gypsum was obtained from gypsite mine of the gypsum pole of Araripe, Pernambuco. The experiment was on a factorial arrangement, testing gypsum doses and particle sizes applied to soil under two sugarcane cultivars. Initially isolated effects of each factor were studied. At the same time, effects of gypsum doses and its interactions with particle size for each of the sugarcane cultivars were studied. In a prospective perspective, mineral gypsum was efficient to supply sub superficial calcium. The combination of lime and gypsum enhanced sugarcane root environment. Mined gypsum reduced sub superficial aluminum saturation, at the 3.42 Mg.ha-1. No potassium and magnesium lixiviation was observed, at the applied doses. Mined gypsum particle size did not have a major effect on its soil behavior. Sugarcane cultivars responded differently to soil correction. Cultivar SP 78-4764 had higher response to lime/mined gypsums, with yields of 98.4 Mg.ha-1. Mined gypsum increased ATR by 9.2 Mg kg -1.
