Resumo: The objective was to evaluate the ingestive behavior of cows Girolando race in pasture of Brachiaria decumbens Stapf., under three different stocking rates and periods of evaluation. The experiment was conducted at Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco (IPA) in Itambé city, microregion physiographic Zona in the Mata seca of the Pernambuco, in the period August 2007 to July 2008. 12 multiparous cows were used, race Girolanda, with average body weight of 496Kg and average production of 5,00 kg/milk/day. We used the method of rotational grazing, with capacity flat, with the occupation period of three days and rest period depending on the season; 67 days in the dry season and 32 days in water. Each paddock was formed by experimental grass Brachiaria decumbens Stapf. The experimental design was randomized blocks arranged in a split-plot with repeated measures in time, with three replications. The treatments consisted of different stocking rates (2, 4 and 6 UA), each block consisting of three paddocks. The observations of ingestive behavior of animals were 10 in 10 minutes during the daytime. The diurnal behavior pattern of animals was influenced by stocking rate, and day evaluation period of occupation in the pasture. The activities presented behavioral relationship between themselves and with the indexes of thermal comfort. During the daytime, the animals concentrated on the activity of grazing whit time means of the 7 hours. The animals in the rate of stocking 4 UA had a more homogeneous ingestive behavior during the trial period.
